Friend, There is a lot happening at both the federal and state level this week. But we must take time to recognize the history being made with President Biden’s nomination of former Rep. Deb Haaland to lead the Department of the Interior! This is the subject of this week’s episode of Out in Front with Annette, at the usual time, this Thursday, February 25th, at 5:00pm on Facebook Live. Her nomination, if confirmed, would make Haaland the first Indigenous cabinet secretary, and more importantly, the first Indigenous to lead the Interior, a federal department that works closely with Indigenous communities to conserve lands of cultural and natural significance. To celebrate, we will be hearing from Indigenous leaders from across the state about why Indigenous leadership in this role is so important and what it means for the care of our public lands and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
