The United States has some of the largest deposits of oil and natural gas in the world, and we worked hard under President Trump to ramp up oil and natural gas production, creating thousands of well-paying jobs in the process and finally becoming an energy exporter.
Plus, the price at the pump remained low.
Now, the Biden Administration unilaterally signed an executive order banning new oil and gas development on federal land and in offshore waters.
This action, without the consent of Congress or debate, has the potential to set off a catastrophic chain reaction for our country.
For one, thousands of hard-working Americans will lose their jobs at a time when they need them most. As effects of the COVID pandemic begin to subside, this will greatly hamper the ability for families to recover from the massive economic hardships imposed upon them.
It also leaves our country’s energy grid vulnerable to outside influence, posing a security risk for all Americans. For the first time in decades, America was exporting more than we were importing, decreasing our dependency on foreign countries and adverse actors.
With the global instability we’re currently experiencing, this leaves the door open to soaring energy prices – and will skyrocket the cost to fill up your gas tank.
