Hi John,

The GOP demonized immigrants. They tried to prevent immigrants from getting critical health care. They took away tax-paying immigrants' access to public benefits.

But the Supreme Court just announced that it will take up challenges to Trump's “public charge” rule, which expanded the definition of what makes someone dependent on public assistance and therefore disqualified from a path to U.S. citizenship.

Right now, the public charge rule intimidates immigrant families and discourages them from accessing public benefits such as health care or housing assistance that are critical to their survival, especially during this health and economic crisis.

If the Supreme Court overturns this cruel rule, it would not only help ensure that immigrants can keep themselves fed and housed but also allow us to dismantle immigrants' barriers to accessing health care -- and speed up our path to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

We believe restoring humane immigration policies should be a priority, but the GOP thinks hardworking immigrants are burdens who don't even deserve to have fundamental, basic needs met. That's why today, we need to know where you stand:

Should the Supreme Court overturn Trump's “public charge” rule?

YES   NO

Thank you for your commitment to creating a kinder, more representative government.
