Yesterday, several of my Senate Democratic colleagues and I
re-introduced a package of bills to further protect workers' rights
during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 100 employers have violated
their workers' safety rights during the pandemic, and we must do
everything we can to make sure people are safe at work.
This pandemic has exposed
serious shortcomings when it comes to workplace safety laws.
Thankfully, the Whitmer administration understands this. However,
Michigan needs to place strong workplace protections into law, for the
long-term, to ensure workers can do their job safely, without being
exposed to unnecessary risks, and with a strong system of
accountability.
We must have a strong
Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration with more
substantial fines, whistleblower protections, protection from
retaliation in the workplace, and testing sites lists provided to
employees.
You can read more about these bills here.
We will keep advocating for what Michiganders need -- no matter how
uphill the battle. If you can, please consider sending in a $10
donation so that we can keep fighting for workers.
In solidarity,
