Hi John,
I'm the director of community here at Run for Something -- and today I want to ask you for something just as valuable (if not more!) than your money: your time.
You see, January was Run for Something's BEST recruitment month of
all time -- yes, really. Already this year over 8,800 people took the first step to running for elected office! But now, we need them to take the
next steps: The critical thinking steps, the "Who's in my network?" steps, the "What issues matter most to me?" steps, the "What problems do I want to solve in my community?" steps.
This is where you come in: Since we just had our biggest candidate recruitment month ever… we need more people power to help these excited young progressives figure out what their next step is.
Anyone can do it -- our current volunteers include an artist, a social studies teacher, and a lot of high school and college students!
John, will you join Run for Something's Volunteer team and help turn recruits into candidates? Don't worry, we'll teach you everything you need to know!
Here's how it shakes out: After you sign up, I'll invite you to join a 30-minute training call which we schedule as a "come if you can" every two weeks. (In fact, we have one
tonight at 8 p.m. ET!)
After that?
You choose when you are available, which candidates you speak to, and how many. This is
completely flexible to your schedule. We have volunteers making calls who aren't old enough to vote, volunteers with decades of experience, and everything in between.
There's no special political knowledge needed, just a commitment to elect more diverse, young progressives to state and local office.
And truly, there's no better feeling than helping an eager young person take their next step towards elected office. What do you say? Can you help?
Thanks,
Leslie Hauser
