In just a few days, the House will be voting on the latest COVID-19 relief package. Additional relief is long overdue, and with some protections from the CARES Act expiring in March, we don’t have any time to waste. The Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan is a strong start, and now we have to ensure Congress builds on the plan with key progressive improvements to expand relief measures and create a truly inclusive, transformative response.

(The first thing you can do right now to support these efforts is to call your representative to demand they support a bold rescue plan, include our key progressive improvements, and defend the bill once it heads to the Senate!)

But COVID-19 relief is far from the only major piece of legislation moving. We’re expecting a vote on H.R. 1 (the For the People Act, one of our top-priority democracy reform bills) in just a few weeks. Upcoming hearings in the House indicate D.C. statehood is moving too. Plus, we’re hard at work building plans to advance our other progressive priorities like immigration, climate, health care, and economic justice long past these first 100 days.

This work doesn’t stop, whether we win or lose any single policy fight. And it takes a ton of effort and resources to keep our plans moving. Whether we’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on the ads that mobilize and expand the movement, investing dozens of hours in developing strong policy guidance, or organizing, training, and mobilizing activists, we’re giving our all to take advantage of this rare trifecta moment, reform our democracy, and put all our priorities in place.
