About this event: Tobacco use is one of our greatest public health challenges. Through the targeted marketing of menthol cigarettes and other products, the tobacco industry has destroyed Black health and lives for generations. In addition, certain socio-environmental factors prevailing in the home, including parental tobacco use, influence whether younger generations adopt cigarette smoking and other types of tobacco use. A deeper understanding of this intergenerational transmission will help educate participants, key stakeholders and communities of color, and provide further insight into avenues of prevention. Conversations such as these are critical in fostering real change. Just one month into the new Biden-Harris Administration, we will explore the inequitable healthcare that communities of color receive, with the goal of urging the White House to act through policy change. |
