I’m supposed to be sending you an email about our big FEC deadline right now (and don’t get me wrong, that’s important too). But we need to take a second to talk about what’s going on -- at home and across the country.

From FBI raids right here in the southwest suburbs to a whistle blower’s report leading to an impeachment investigation in our nation’s capital, we’re seeing rampant corruption spiraling out of control right in front of us.

Next year’s election isn’t just a chance to elect a true progressive to represent Illinois’ Third District, it’s a chance to send a strong message: We’re done with corruption. We’re done with the same old machine politics. It’s time for a new day in IL-03.

That’s the reason I got into this race in the first place. Like a lot of you, I’m tired of seeing the same bought-and-sold politicians prioritize their wealthy corporate donors over their constituents.

This is exactly why I’ve refused to take money from corporate PACs and federal lobbyists. And I can guarantee that the forces of the establishment protecting the status quo won’t be helping me out.

All I have is people like you, John. At times like tomorrow’s FEC deadline, I need to ask: Will you chip in whatever you can to build our campaign, and put people over special interests?
