Dear Friend,

In 2020, lifelong Democrat Candy Christophe stepped up to the plate and set off to do what others believed to be impossible: become the first black woman to represent the great state of Louisiana. Candy came within 424 votes of advancing to the runoff to face late Republican frontrunner Luke Letlow, who tragically passed away of COVID-19 in December 2020.

Candy is no stranger to the issues plaguing her district. To combat economic strife and family separation, Candy founded Re-Entry Solutions, a Louisiana nonprofit that provides needed assistance with employment, housing, and reintegration for formerly incarcerated persons. For her work with Re-Entry Solutions, Candy became the first civilian to be honored in the hall of fame of Louisiana's notorious Angola prison.

Following the Governor's decision to hold a special election on March 20 to fill the empty LA-05 Congressional seat, Candy entered the race as the only democrat and she's not backing down.

Snapshots from our '19-'20 Campaign

Republican efforts to retain LA-05 are in question after nine republicans registered for the March 20 Special Election. With no clear frontrunner emerging from the Republican pack, Candy Christophe stands poised to surge past her Republican opponents and secure a historic victory.

Despite the prevailing belief that Candy’s district is a GOP stronghold, Democrats in LA-05 have a 25,000+ voter registration lead within the district. Coupled with this Candy has received the endorsement of the Louisiana Democratic Party. With this endorsement Candy now has the full power of the strategic organizing, fundraising, and staffing support of the state party behind her.

To be clear, Team Christophe is plugged into the same machine that pulled Louisana's Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards to victory in his groundbreaking 2015 & 2019 campaigns.

We can achieve a historic victory in the first congressional race of the Biden administration, elect Louisiana's first black Congresswoman, grow the Democratic Congressional majority, and bring about real change for Louisiana. Now we need you to join our grassroots movement so we can make this dream a reality.

We need to raise $100,000 by February the 28th to meet the DCCC’s fundraising goal and unlock access to their streams of funding support. Join our fight and chip in here.

Help Us Reach our Goal of $100,000

Our district only has 765,000 residents and we lead the GOP in registered voters by more than 25,000 Unlike urban districts or normal election conditions, it will not take a lot of money to win this seat. Can you chip in $5, $10, $25, even $100?
