Dear friend,

My name is Jena Griswold, and I proudly serve as Colorado’s Secretary of State.

I grew up working-class in rural Colorado. My mom worked two jobs, but we would still sometimes go to food banks to make ends meet. I started working in 7th grade and was the first person in my family to attend a 4-year college and then law school.

But that’s exactly how I’m prepared to fight so hard in this race. My family’s struggles have given me the grit, determination, and empathy needed for this work. I know that no one should be forced to choose between their health and their right to vote. I understand the systemic problems that block specific communities from the ballot box. And I have the spine necessary to defend our democracy from any and all attacks.

We’ve made a lot of progress in the last few years from expanding voter access and improving our election system to adding hundreds of ballot drop boxes, but there is still so much more work to do!

Among the many lessons 2020 taught us, let us never forget that our democracy requires protection and constant attention.There are still forces tirelessly working to suppress the vote and attack our free and fair elections.

Stopping dark money and corruption, protecting the right to vote, and expanding access to democracy are more important than ever. That's exactly what I will fight for as Secretary of State.
