Hey friend, it’s Bradley Whitford. You may know me from the movie Get Out or the TV show The West Wing — but what you may not know is that Ady Barkan is a dear friend of mine.
Ady officiated my wedding in 2019!
When Ady asked me to be his voice for the audiobook version of his memoir, Eyes To The Wind, I was thrilled. I wanted everyone to get to know the most inspiring human being I have ever met.
His story is far from a tragedy — ultimately, it’s one of profound inspiration and an urgent call to action. What would you do if you had a limited amount of time left on this earth? And how would you fight for health care justice if it was a matter of life and death?
Ady’s story since his ALS diagnosis has been anything but conventional. So when the opportunity presented itself to bring his story to the big screen as an Executive Producer, I didn’t walk — I ran. And after a few years, I’m incredibly excited for Not Going Quietly to premiere at the South by Southwest film festival in a few weeks.
This documentary will move you and make you cry. You may even laugh — Ady is one of the funniest people I know! But most importantly, I hope it will make you as ready as Ady is to fight like hell for a just health care system for all that prioritizes people over profits.
With many thanks,
