Dear National Park Supporter,

In just two days, Congress could vote to protect 1.5 million acres of public land and designate over 1,000 miles of rivers into the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. The Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act is a unique opportunity to protect numerous cultural and natural resources in critical park landscapes. We can't let this opportunity get away.

Send a personal letter to your U.S. representative right now and make sure that Congress passes this crucial park protection bill!

There are some pieces of this bill that my team and I are particularly passionate about... and I think park supporters like you will be too. For example:

- The Grand Canyon Protection Act protects Grand Canyon National Park from uranium mining. This legislation would make permanent the current 20-year ban on uranium mining for the neighboring one million acres of land... protecting its watershed and the water sources which are especially vital to the Havasupai people.

- The Rim of the Valley Corridor Preservation Act protects the expanded Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. With over 17 million people, the Los Angeles metropolitan area is the second most populous region of the country, yet it has less open space per capita than all other large cities on the West Coast. The expanded national park presence will better connect families to the outdoors.

- The Colorado Wilderness Act permanently protects approximately 660,000 acres of public land in Colorado. Many of Colorado's remaining wildland areas face serious and growing threats from oil and gas development and massive population growth. This act protects land directly adjacent to Dinosaur National Monument and near Mesa Verde National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area.

- The Wild Olympics Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers Act designates wilderness and river protections in Washington state. This legislation protects the ecosystems and recreational opportunities in and around Olympic National Park, including trail systems, wildlife habitats, and vistas.

- The Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy Act protects 400,000 acres of public lands in Colorado, including providing an important boundary designation for the Curecanti National Recreation Area. The bill also designates the first-ever National Historic Landscape at Camp Hale, which pays tribute to the brave WWII veterans who fought as part of the 10th Mountain Division and fulfills their wishes to preserve this landscape.

Clearly, as you can see, this is a robust package with a lot of great opportunities for America's national parks. Permanent protections for these vulnerable areas have benefits for our parks, economies and the future of our public lands.

Please speak out now and encourage your representative to vote in support of H.R. 803, Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act.

Thank you for speaking out for America's national parks,

Kristen
