This just in: Once again, some members of
Congress think we need to "compromise" on raising the wage. And by
"compromise," they really just mean taking a long-overdue raise away from
working people.
Manu Raju [1]Verified @mkraju
[2]@mkraju Sen. Joe Manchin, a key Democratic swing vote, told me that
he would try to amend the covid relief package with a
federal minimum wage hike to $11 an hour, a move he argues
will allow the party to get behind a compromise with many
Dems pushing $15 hike
How many times do we have to say it? Democrats are ALREADY behind raising
the minimum wage to $15. So are the American people. Even Republicans
agree — Florida passed a $15 minimum wage with a supermajority while
voting for Donald Trump in November.
[ [link removed] ]Pramila will keep using the full force of our movement to fight for a
$15 minimum wage — not $10. Not $11. Not later. Will you chip in
$5
or more right now to support this push to raise the wage? We need to show
everyone that the people are on our side.

Beyond having robust support, a $15 minimum wage is just good policy.
No one knows this better than Pramila, who helped make Seattle the first
major city in the country to pass a $15 minimum wage. Working families and
the local economy thrived. The city was even named the best place for
business and careers two years in a row — dispelling the corporate-backed
myth that businesses would fail.
If we're going to heal the wounds of this devastating pandemic, now is not
the time for incremental change. Raising the wage will alleviate the
economic pressures communities face, give 27 million workers a raise, and
lift nearly one million Americans out of poverty.
[ [link removed] ]We need to support Pramila's leadership in Congress now more than ever
as she fights back against attempts to slow our progress on this critical
issue. Chip in
$5
or more right now to help her make a $15 minimum wage a reality for every
worker in this country.
In solidarity,
Team Jayapal
