Dear John,

Rep. Deb Haaland is an incredible and historic choice to lead the Department of the Interior — and we need your help to keep her confirmation from getting derailed.

Not only is Rep. Haaland a fierce climate advocate who would successfully implement the Biden-Harris climate and conservation plan, protect our access to public lands, and put the American people before oil and gas profits, she would also be the first Indigenous cabinet Secretary and second-highest-ranking enrolled Native American to ever serve in the federal government.

We must make sure our two senators here in Maine, Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins, vote to confirm her as Secretary of the Interior, which could be brought to the Senate floor any day now.

This moment is enormously consequential. We need to make sure Maine’s Senators vote to ensure the Department has a permanent leader to fulfill its mission, implement the widely-supported Biden-Harris plan, and protect our public lands for future generations.

Thank you for taking action in this historic moment.

Onward,
Kathleen
