John, our utilities of the future must be publicly owned, carefully regulated, completely decarbonized, and guaranteed to all. And last week we saw exactly why.
A catastrophic winter storm in Texas left millions without electricity, heat, and power — with Black and brown communities especially vulnerable in this crisis. They were among the first to lose power in the blackouts and will likely be last to get it back.
It’s environmental injustice. It’s environmental racism. And it must end. Right now, in Texas, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is responsible for getting power to most of the state — a company that let the people of Texas down while profiting from the lack of federal regulation.
Our utilities cannot continue to be under the control of a system that puts corporate greed over the lives of regular people. Can you sign on to support Cori’s fight in Congress to make our utilities publicly owned? [[link removed]]

Right now, we are seeing the consequences of a for-profit utility system: dozens of people dying in Texas from lack of heat and power. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Public utilities means no corporate greed controlling who gets heat, water, electricity, internet, and gas. It means Black and brown communities will no longer be the first to lose power and the last to get it back. It means no one gets left without heat or water because of what neighbood they live in.
We can’t allow what we saw in Texas to happen again. Sign on right now to our petition to support Cori’s call to make ALL utilities — including internet — publicly owned, carefully regulated, completely decarbonized, and guaranteed to all. [[link removed]]
Together,
Team Cori
