Hello,

A year ago today, Ahmaud Arbery went on a jog in Glynn County, Georgia. He never made it home.

Travis and Gregory McMichael and William Bryan chased Ahmaud in two separate vehicles at gunpoint. They hunted him down, shooting and killing him. Ahmaud died fighting to defend his life. He was 25.

In the weeks that followed, the McMichaels and Bryan were not arrested. For nearly three months, they got to walk free with zero repercussions for their crimes. This grave mishandling of justice is why we say Black Lives Matter.

Ahmaud Arbery's murder, and the lack of justice and accountability that followed, is another example of how the American justice system treats Black people in this country. It's why hundreds of thousands of people all across the world took to the streets and demanded justice for Ahmaud, justice for Breonna Taylor, justice for George Floyd, and justice for the Black men and women who are murdered each year in a system that doesn't value Black lives.

Friend, we started The Justice For All Action Fund to elect Black leaders who are representative of our communities. Leaders who will fearlessly dismantle the system to ensure equal justice under the law. There can't be two systems of justice. It is time that we codify progressive policy, revolutionize institutions, and unite our community in the push for an America that upholds the values of liberty and justice for all that for too long have been denied to far too many.
