The Indigenous peoples of the Amazon continue to confront significant threats against their lives and the rainforest. Next weekend Indigenous people, communities, and organizations across the Amazon will come together online to host The Jungle Screams: Voices of the Amazon on February 26 and 27 to address the COVID-19 pandemic, extractivism, climate change, patriarchy, femicides, and attacks against democracy.
Simultaneous interpretation to Spanish, Portuguese, and English will be provided!
We've responded via our Amazon Defenders Fund because the COVID-19 pandemic has required rapid response funds directly to Indigenous communities and global solidarity to save lives. But there is so much more to do. Indigenous leaders are building a pan-Amazonian alliance and they will need your voice!
The Jungle Screams is part of the Global Assembly for the Amazon and will feature the participation of organizations such as the Coordinating Body of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA), the Pan-Amazon Religious Network (REPAM), and the Panamazonian Social Forum (FOSPA), alongside activists, scientists, and allies from the global north and south.
Join Indigenous leaders for The Jungle Screams: Voices of the Amazon on February 26 and 27 at 10 am PST / 1 pm EST.
