Hello,
I am proud and excited to share that I will serve as chairman of the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Subcommittee within the Senate Appropriations Committee.
The Military Construction and Veteran Affairs Subcommittee oversees the funding and construction of hospitals, dormitories, schools, child development centers, and other projects both here in the U.S. and on military bases around the world. Modern, well-equipped facilities can help our service members be ready for anything and improve quality of life for them and their families.
I look forward to taking all that I have learned over 12 years serving on both the House and Senate Armed Services Committee to continue strengthening New Mexico's military installations and defense research laboratories. I will fight to ensure our labs and bases have the facilities they need to execute national security missions and grow our state's economy.
The Subcommittee also oversees funding for the Department of Veteran Affairs, which provides healthcare and social services to millions of men and women who have honorably served our country.
As the family member of several veterans and Senator of a state with one of the highest rates of military service, I know that keeping our promises to our veterans begins with a well-funded and well-resourced VA. I am especially focused on improving telehealth services for rural veterans, providing high-quality health care and housing assistance for veterans experiencing homelessness, and building a robust COVID-19 vaccination program for all who have served.
I am honored to lead this Subcommittee, and I am ready and committed to serve those who serve us all. If you believe in delivering on our promises to our military members and veterans, pitch in $10 or more to support our work today:

I look forward to helping secure the funding and resources needed to keep our service members and veterans safe and ready. Thank you for joining me in this important work.
