We Led a Group of Gun Violence Survivors to Mitch McConnell’s Door

We refuse to let Mitch McConnell’s lethal inaction continue. Following Wednesday’s rally to end gun violence, we led about a dozen advocates [[link removed]] to Mitch McConnell’s office. We were alongside a powerful group of gun violence prevention champions — Rep. Robin Kelly , Rep. John Lewis , Rep. Lucy McBath , Rep. Lacy Clay , and Rep. David Cicilline . We spent nearly 90 minutes inside McConnell’s office, sharing our stories about gun violence:

— Christian Heyne, Brady Vice President of Policy, shared how he was a teenager when a man with a history of violence shot his father and killed his mother

— Heather Sallan, Brady Nevada Co-President, shared how she survived 11 minutes of machine-gun fire during the #Route91 shooting in Las Vegas.

— Mattie Scott, President of Brady California, shared how she fights to honor her son, George, who was shot and killed in 1996 while attending a graduation party.

— Hollan Holm, shared how he was 14 when he was shot in the head at Heath High School in West Paducah, Kentucky.

— Denise Marks, a Brady Pennsylvania member, shared how her daughter, Emily, used her father’s handgun and died by suicide.

— Tatiana Washington, a Team ENOUGH leader, shared how her Aunt Sherida was shot and killed by her husband before turning the gun on himself.

— Delphine Cherry, a Brady Board member, shared how she lost two children to gun violence.

Our message is this: Either McConnell acts, or he’ll be seeing a lot more of all of us. We’ll bring more survivors to his door. We’ll keep rallying. We’ll keep calling. We won’t give up. Watch Facebook Live footage from our meeting.

We’re Telling Trump and McConnell: You Have Blood On Your Hands

We launched #BloodyHands, a campaign to remind the public that every day Trump and McConnell refuse to support common-sense gun reform, 100 people in America are killed by gun violence. We know the pattern: He punts to Trump. And Trump punts back. In the meantime, Americans die. Learn about Bloody Hands. [[link removed]]

VICTORY! Our Case Representing Victims of the Las Vegas Route 91 Shooting Moves Forward ⚖️

A federal judge ruled that our lawsuit [[link removed]] on behalf of victims of the Las Vegas Route 91 shooting can advance. The suit is against Slide Fire Solutions, which sold and marketed the bump stock devices used by the gunman. These devices allowed the gunman to use rapid fire to kill 58 people and wound nearly 800 more in 11 minutes — facilitating the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. This legal win comes just days ahead of the two-year observance of the Route 91 shooting, known as ‘1 October.’ Brady Legal will continue to fight to ensure the Las Vegas victims secure the justice they deserve. Play Our New Video Game, “League of Legislators!” 🎮

The problem isn't video games. It's NRA-funded politicians. The NRA spent $30 million to elect Donald Trump, and millions more lobbying Congress against passing gun safety legislation. Play our new video game and help defeat the gun lobby. [[link removed]]

We helped organize Wednesday’s national rally to end gun violence, which brought hundreds of activists to the U.S. Capitol. Speakers, including Brady President Kris Brown, highlighted the daily urban gun violence that disproportionately impacts communities of color. Brady Endorses Gun Safety Champions in Virginia

We’re proud to endorse 18 more gun safety champions for Virginia’s General Assembly, bringing us to a total of 51 Brady-endorsed candidates in the Commonwealth! This is a BIG deal because Virginia is the ONLY election in the country this November where control of the state legislature is up for grabs. For years, Virginia lawmakers have failed to pass common-sense gun reform, like expanding background checks. On Nov. 5, time's up! Read more out our latest endorsements. [[link removed]]

On Saturday, we joined Cory Booker in Virginia to launch a canvass for Brady-endorsed gun safety champion Delegate Hala Ayala (HD-51). Watch video on Facebook [[link removed]?], and watch Booker give a shoutout [[link removed]] to Brady.

Brady Quote of the Week 🎤

“...[T]he NRA is using its monetarily secured relationship, fueled by Russia, to stop our President from taking action. Every member of Congress that fails to vote on gun violence prevention legislation is bowing down to this corruption, including, most notably, our Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.”
