Team,

Climate change is real and its impacts are already here, most recently manifesting itself with abnormal cold fronts and extreme winter weather occurring across the South. Last week, we witnessed winter storms like never before in Texas, a state that rarely sees the degree of snow, ice, and freezing temperatures it experienced.

As a result, millions of Texans lost power and access to clean water. Homes were damaged and in some cases destroyed by bursting pipes. Families were forced to rely on fire for heat or stay with neighbors or relatives to avoid freezing. Food and necessities flew off the shelves of grocery stores, and many food banks were forced to shutter. Sadly, at least 26 people have died.

Though temperatures are finally warming across the state, the ripple effects from this crisis will last well beyond just one week. Here in New Jersey, we still feel and remember the pain brought by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

The people of Texas could really use our support as they work to rebuild in the days ahead. Food banks and homeless outreach organizations need as much help as they can get to provide resources to the most vulnerable, including families, the elderly, and those without shelter.

Let’s come together to show the people of Texas our love and support in this difficult time: if you can afford to do so, please split a contribution between Feeding Texas, The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, and Coalition for the Homeless today.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

100% of your donation will go to these local Texas organizations working on the ground to help those in need and pick up the pieces after this statewide emergency.

Thank you for anything you can give to help our neighbors in the Lone Star State.

With love,

Cory
