The dark legacy of family separation is far from over. Government officials who orchestrated the mass separation of thousands of families must be held accountable. 

But we cannot achieve accountability without transparency.  

That’s why the American Immigration Council continues to fight for transparency through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and litigation. 

With your support, the Council’s fight for transparency has resulted in:

• A FOIA lawsuit that forced the government to produce over 1,000 pages of documents on the Trump administration’s zero tolerance policy.  
• A comprehensive analysis of the government documents, including incident reports on the policy’s traumatic effects on children and the systemic failure to track families in the aftermath of the separations.
