Dear John,

Everyone has a right to clean air, water and land. And everyone should have equal voting rights to ensure lawmakers are guided by what people want and that everyone’s voice is heard.

But hurdles to voting make it harder for us to advocate for the kinds of equitable, fair and durable environmental and public health protections we need. 

That is why we are proud to join with our coalition partners to support (HR1/S1) the For the People Act, the most sweeping democracy bill in a generation!  

Please, call your Member of Congress now and urge them to pass the For the People Act.

At its core, this legislation will increase voter participation — making voting easier and more accessible — especially for communities of color and other historically disenfranchised Americans.

Together, we can take this first step towards comprehensive democracy reform — ensuring that environmental concerns in every community are heard and legislative action is taken to solve these critical problems facing our country.

If enacted, The For the People Act will: 

• Protect and strengthen our sacred right to vote, especially in communities that have been structurally and historically disenfranchised.

 

• Combat corruption by passing pro-ethics measures to clean up our government.

 

• End the dominance of big polluter money in politics so the people's voice can be heard.

We must all work to ensure that voting is safe and accessible in order to further the fight for a cleaner future. Only our collective voice will advance common sense legislation that helps to clean up our air and water while fighting for a healthier planet.
