I'm fired up to serve as the Chairwoman of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State as we head into the midterm elections. I'm going to ask for your support to help elect democratic secretaries in a moment, but I want you to know why standing up for voting rights is so important to me.

From my days as a voter protection attorney, I've been on the frontlines fighting voter suppression.

I've seen first-hand the discriminatory efforts to suppress voters so that those in power can stay there.

It's why I work every day to ensure that all eligible Americans can participate in our democracy.

But as we saw last year, lies and false narratives threaten the core tenet that every vote matters and every vote should be counted.

This is why Democratic Secretaries of State are so crucial in preserving our democratic process.

The Secretary of State in most states has the unique responsibility for voter registration, maintaining voter rolls, and administering elections.

But in the wrong hands, this office can be used to purge voter rolls, close polling locations, set up roadblocks that discourage voting.

DASS is the democratic organization of elected officials dedicated to taking back the majority of Secretary of State offices. Our mission ahead of the midterms is more important than ever.

That's why I'm asking our grassroots supporters to help us reach our end-of-month goal before January 31. We need 1,500 donations to come in before the deadline so we have the resources to elect Democratic Secretaries of State nationwide.
