A note from Beth Friends, Our state has endured a great deal this past week. The hundred-year winter storm has shaken us and left our entire state hurting. We have a list of investigations that need to be made and reforms to implement so power outages on this scale never happen again. I will continue to work on behalf of all Texans to implement the changes necessary to safeguard our electric grid, and our future, against adverse weather events. But for many of us, the sun is now shining, pipes have defrosted and power has been restored. If that is true for you, could I encourage you to join with me and find a way to give back to our community that is hurting? Many of our neighbors have catastrophic home damage, some missed a week of work that will make already tight finances even tighter, and organizations who have been working at peak capacity to offer assistance during COVID are seeing more need than they can handle. I believe one of the fundamental strengths of our nation is that we believe we should help one another. Below is a list of ways that we can work together to make a difference in our community. Donate food Metrocrest Services Tarrant Area Food Bank North Texas Food Bank North Texas Community Table Give Blood Carter Blood Care AABB RedCrossBlood.org Check in on your neighbors- email [email protected] and we will send you a list of seniors in our community that you can call. Together we can make sure everyone in our community is recovering from the storm.
