This crisis is setting women's progress back by decades,
John.

Women, especially Black and brown communities, are experiencing the worst
effects of the COVID-19 recession. In the last year, over 3 million women
have dropped out of the workforce. We’ve been impacted the most by wage
cuts, layoffs, loss of health insurance due to unemployment, and
increasing child care costs.

This is why it’s absolutely critical we make sure Congress passes the
American Rescue Plan. Today, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ COVID relief
bill was officially introduced to the House Budget Committee and put up
for debate. This bill currently includes motions to immediately increase
the national minimum wage to $15, provide another round of direct cash
payments, expand access to affordable child care, and provide much-needed
protections for women essential workers.

Throughout this crisis, Women’s Marchers have come together to care for
our families and communities when our leaders failed to. Now, we must work
together to demand the relief we need and make sure no cuts are made to
this bill.

From dealing with unemployment, child care, chores, virtual schooling —
women all across the country are being expected to do it all — and we’re
on the brink.

Kamala Harris understands how urgent this crisis is and why it’s so
critical that women are centered in a COVID relief bill: “The pandemic has
put decades of progress for women workers at risk. It's a national
emergency that demands a national solution. The American Rescue Plan is
that solution."

Passing this bill needs to be our number one priority. For almost a year
now, women have been demanding a meaningful COVID relief response that
matches the scale of crisis we’re currently facing. Now that Trump is out
of office and Democrats have control of Congress — we have a real chance
at getting that relief.

It’s going to take a massive show of grassroots support to make sure our
priorities like an expansion in access to child care remain in this bill
and that it passes immediately. [ [link removed] ]Please add your name now to our urgent
petition to Congress and join the fight to pass the American Rescue Plan.

Keep fighting,

Women’s March
