Hello —
As you may know, President Joe Biden named my good friend, Congresswoman Deb Haaland, to be his Secretary of the Interior. If confirmed, she would be the first Native American to lead the department.
But Deb’s nomination needs to be approved by the Senate, and her hearing is tomorrow. Republicans have already indicated they will try to block her confirmation. With a fragile 50-50 majority, we could have a tough fight ahead of us.
I am committed to doing everything I can to ensure Deb’s historic nomination is successful, but I can't do it alone. Will you sign my petition to help show an overwhelming surge of support for Deb as Interior Secretary?
I know firsthand Deb’s commitment to the sanctity of our public lands because, like me, she has spent her entire career defending them.
When I passed the Land Grant-Mercedes bill to protect our public lands in the House, Deb was right there with me. And when I worked to secure funding for our national parks, Deb helped me along the way.
I have no doubt that Deb will continue to protect our environment, preserve our public lands, and support Tribal Nations. She is a fierce leader, and I'm confident she will act quickly to undo the Trump Administration’s damage.
That’s why Republicans are so afraid of Deb. They know she will hold them accountable for the years they have spent degrading our national parks, public lands, and relationships with Tribal Nations.
To protect our public lands and address climate change, we have to make sure Senate Republicans don’t block this confirmation. I’m personally asking you to show your support for Deb Haaland by signing my petition today:
Thanks for your help.
