Friend,
Just like so many other households across the state of Alabama, in the Jones house, Pride is personal. For our family, Pride reminds us that the differences between people are small and that compassion for each other can move mountains.
And my dad, Doug Jones, is a part of that group moving mountains. Just earlier this month, Dad spoke on the floor of the Senate in support of the Equality Act. The Equality Act would guarantee protections for the LGBTQ+ community across the entire country, not just here in Alabam
a. It would ensure that people cannot be fired from a job or denied a place to live simply based on who they are or who they love.
We may be wrapping up Pride Month, but there's one thing we can’t forget: Pride started as a protest. Pride started when good people stood their ground for a cause they believed in. A cause that they knew would help move our country forward, not backwards.
We can celebrate. We can march. We can work in our communities. But with Mitch McConnell in charge, the Senate won't ever pass anything on equality. Dad is taking a stand when comes to equality but he needs your help. Doug Jones is a top target in 2020. You helped shape history in 2017 and Dad needs your help to continue to shape history and demonstrate that Alabama supports everyone.

We've seen what happens when important legislation our country desperately needs is blocked from coming to the floor. Everything stalls. And if another extremist like Roy Moore or whoever Mitch McConnell handpicks wins, everything becomes that much harder.
My dad stood on the floor of the Senate and demanded action. We can't afford to wait. Suicide rates in the LGBTQ+ community are five times the national average. Legislation like the Equality Act makes discrimination against everyone - no matter who you love - a federal crime. It's common sense and supported by over 60 percent of Americans.
To take on McConnell and everyone standing in the way of equality, we can't let the extremists win in Alabama. It's going to be a tough fight, but I know we're up to the challenge. [[link removed]]
You've heard from many of the people my dad inspired on his way to victory in 2017. Their stories are powerful and personal. I believe we can come together and find common ground to pass legislation like the Equality Act.
Please consider making a contribution to my dad, Doug Jones, before our big midnight deadline. [[link removed]]
I know we can do this. Thank you for your support.
