Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Monday that Congress will establish an independent, 9/11-style commission to look into the events of January 6.
With the bombshell evidence presented in Trump's impeachment trial, it's clear that we need a formal and widespread investigation of everyone and everything responsible for the insurrection that left several people dead and interrupted the certification of our presidential election.
But Republicans would prefer that information remain hidden -- which is why they're trying to pin the blame on Pelosi instead, sending a letter that insinuated she could have been responsible for a delay in sending National Guard troops to the Capitol that day. A top Pelosi aide called it a "transparently partisan attempt to lay blame on the Speaker."
