500,000 Americans lost to the COVID-19 virus is a number almost too large to grasp. That is more than US combat deaths in WWI, WWII and Vietnam combined. I know many people who this virus has taken, and I continue to feel hurt by this substantial loss.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis we are in continues to destroy lives and livelihoods across the country.

The American people cannot afford any more delays. We must take decisive action and pass the American Rescue Plan, and pass it urgently before unemployment benefits expire soon.

President Joe Biden's American Rescue Plan will help us beat the coronavirus pandemic, deliver relief for working people and families, support communities struggling the most, return children and teachers safely to classrooms, distribute more vaccines and put people back to work.

The bill would continue to implement the national vaccination program that includes setting up community vaccination sites nationwide, scaling up testing and tracing and addressing critical supplies shortages. Assistance would also be provided directly to households by $1,400 per person. The plan will also provide direct housing and nutrition assistance, extend and expand unemployment insurance and boost families through enhanced tax credits.

This week, I will join my colleagues in Congress to support this landmark legislation. We cannot afford any more delays.
