John,

Climate activist Rep. Deb Haaland is poised to make history as the first Native American to serve as Secretary of the Interior -- and yet according to conservative news outlets, Republicans are already “gearing up for a fight” over her confirmation.

The GOP had no problem backing a conservative lawyer who advocated for the sale of federal lands and ridiculed Native Americans over their religious beliefs for the same position -- and yet Republican Senator Steve Daines brazenly promised to “block [Haaland's] confirmation” over her so-called “radical views.”

What are some of those radical views? Protecting public lands like our national parks from oil and gas drilling.

Let's be clear: The GOP's real objection is to seeing a Native American woman in power who is ready to challenge them.

Having a Native American serve as a Cabinet Secretary is long overdue, and we are proud to support the woman making history to right the centuries of injustices committed against Indigenous populations in our country -- but before the GOP attempts to block her confirmation, we need to know where you stand so we know if engaged Democrats are actually with us:

John: Should the GOP confirm Rep. Deb Haaland?
