The statewide emergency in Texas is the greatest failure of government our state has ever seen, and we have so many questions that Gov. Abbott needs to answer - under oath.
Why weren’t Texans adequately warned of this storm?
Why weren’t there warming centers set up before the cold hit?
Why was so much false information shared by the governor during a life-threatening storm?
Why didn’t Abbott’s own Public Utility Commission protect our power grid?
And our leaders need to hear from the millions of Texans who have been without power, heat, or access to food for days.
The Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan has already called for a hearing into the blackout - but right now, it would be a sham. Abbott isn’t being called to testify, and the public isn’t allowed to participate.
We need Abbott to testify under oath about what he knew and why he failed. And Texans need to be allowed to make their voices heard. Can you help us send a message to Speaker Phelan to hold a real hearing with Abbott’s testimony and input from the public?
