Twin Ports DSA Members and Associates:
We have a few meetings this week you should be aware of.
On Tuesday at 7pm our Ecosocialist Working Group and Brainerd Lakes Area DSA have another meeting on Line 3 organizing. Use this link to register.
On Thursday at 7 pm our Housing Justice Working Group meets. Use this link to register.
On Friday at 5:30 pm our Racial Justice Working Group has a weekly meeting. Register here.
On Sunday at 4 pm we have our general membership meeting. Use this link to register.
And that brings us to tonight. At 7 pm tonight the city council is considering a proposal to amend the city charter, allowing a third deputy police chief to help manage training, hiring, and accountability. LeanDuluth, the organization our Racial Justice Working Group has been cooperating with, is asking for general citizen input on the need police accountability and oversight. The Lean Duluth Website is a good resource for current area statistics on race and the police.
If you can speak tonight, go to the city live meeting access page, click on the link to "city council" and after you open up the Cisco WebX software (on computer or phone) raise your hand. The city clerk will put you in line to speak, and you will be unmuted when it is your turn.
Finally, there are several national DSA events this week. I encourage anyone interested to attend. I've learned a lot through these webinars.
Tonight at 8pm there is a Medicare for All Q and A.
Tuesday at 6:30 pm there is what looks to be a great event: Rediscovering Earth, Reclaiming Our Lives: A Conversation with Kim Stanley Robinson. Register here.
Tuesday at 7 pm, The Socialist Legacy of Black Feminism - Week 2 . Register here.
Finally, on Friday the YDSA winter conference starts. This is a full weekend event. Register here.
These events and more can be found on the national DSA calendar page.
In solidarity,
John Krumm
TPDSA Secretary
