Dear John,

How do history and civics classes and other fields in the humanities connect with one another? This is the central question Liz Evans and I will address in our YourTube live "Teacher Time" webinar tomorrow, February 23 at 4 pm ET ([link removed]) .

The humanities—including the study of languages, literature, history, jurisprudence, philosophy, comparative religion, ethics, and the arts—are disciplines of memory and imagination, telling us where we have been and helping us envision where we are going. Using examples of film, music, and other media, we will explore some of the ways in which social studies teachers can collaborate with other humanities teachers.

As we do every other Tuesday afternoon, we will also take a look at recent events in the news from a pedagogical and principles-based perspective.
