John,

We hope that you and your loved ones are safe today.

Last week was distressing and painful, to say the least. Across Texas, millions of us were plunged into darkness as our power grid failed. Then we saw lives lost, freezing temperatures inside our own homes, water outages, property damage, empty grocery store shelves and economic impacts that will stretch far beyond this week.

Help is available. If you or someone you know is in need of immediate assistance, please see this list of resources available across the state.

The winter storm may be gone now, but the recovery will take some time.

To aid in the ongoing recovery efforts and support our communities and the working families impacted, the Texas Freedom Network has joined with partner organizations to create the Power Up Texas Fund.

This fund will do two things:

  • Provide direct relief to people at this moment through financial assistance, wellness checks, water, food, and other basic essentials.
  • Organize and mobilize Texans to understand this was a man-made disaster created by ideologies that cozy up to corporate interests over the wellbeing of our communities.

If you are able to, please consider making a contribution today to the Power Up Texas Fund. Your contribution will provide help to working families across our state.

At this critical time, we have to ensure our communities are able to recover as quickly as possible. And we need to make sure we never see an avoidable crisis like this one again.

I want to thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer. This is a difficult time for so many. But Texans are resilient, and I know we'll get through this by supporting each other in the weeks and months to come.

Onward,
