[[link removed]] John,

The local sheriff described it as the worst animal hoarding situation he’d ever
encountered: on a property in Tennessee, more than 100 animals — including
dozens of dogs, as well as horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, geese, parrots, and
others — were found suffering from emaciation, lesions, hair loss, and more .

The decaying bodies of deceased animals were also found on the property.

Among the survivors was a dog named Katarina. As we kick off National Justice for Animals Week, Katarina and the animals
rescued with her are still waiting for justice. John, you can help us win justice for abused
animals like Katarina by donating now when your gift will be matched up to a
total of $37,000.

Katarina’s guardian was charged with 18 counts of animal cruelty, but the case
continues. Sadly, this wasn’t the first time Katarina’s abuser had harmed
animals. She was previously charged with cruelty, pleading guilty to two charges
in 2009. Katarina’s case, and the case of the animals who suffered before her,
demonstrates the urgent need for stronger laws that truly protect animals —
keeping innocent animals out of the hands of known abusers.

Your contribution, doubled in value now, can help secure strong laws to prevent
cruelty, hold animal abusers accountable, and give second chances to animals
like Katarina. Will you please give today?

After her rescue, Katarina was taken to a local humane society, where she
received life-changing rehabilitation, with her care funded in part by the
Animal Legal Defense Fund. She’s now thriving in her new home. Like every
animal, Katarina is an individual deserving of protection, care, and recognition
under the law. Please continue the vital role you play in winning justice for animal victims
of cruelty with your gift to be matched now.

Justice for Animals week. For the animals,

Stephen Wells
Executive Director
