GOP Sen. Tim Scott blasted the concept of a living wage as "not common sense."

Working Americans having to work more than one job to pay rent is not common sense. Letting billionaires increase their wealth by paying their employees starvation wages is not common sense. Mothers having to choose between feeding their children and paying for medication is not common sense.

But making sure Americans are paid enough to survive is.

The federal minimum wage has stagnated for over a decade. As we battle a pandemic, it's crucial that we ensure American workers are paid fairly. And with our Democratic majority in Washington, we have a chance to do just that.
