Team — there was a lot to celebrate after last November’s election, but few stories made me happier than Rep. Lucy McBath’s upset victory.
A woman of color running in a district Donald Trump carried in 2016, Lucy entered politics after experiencing perhaps the most horrifying event that can happen to a person — her 17-year old son was shot and killed over a disagreement about music volume.
This spurred Lucy to fight for gun safety, and last year she defeated an extremely well-funded GOP incumbent by barely one percentage point.
It’s no surprise that the NRA is already pouring resources in to ensure this is Lucy’s only term.
Both Lucy and I have a fundraising deadline at midnight tomorrow. We are standing up against the NRA and fighting for so many bold reforms needed in our communities. Will you split a contribution between our campaigns today?
Lucy proved last year that Democrats — and women of color — can compete and win absolutely anywhere.
Little by little, we can build a sustainable majority that will fight for the values we hold dear: preventing gun violence, protecting and expanding health care access, and fighting for LGBTQ+ equality.
Help Lucy and I do just that my splitting a contribution between our campaigns today.
Thank you for all your support — today and every day.
In solidarity,
Pramila
