We’re just over one month into the new year and we are already making progress on a range of issues in Congress. As always, I’m focused on passing legislation that will tangibly improve lives here at home in California’s 49th District.
Last week, I led a bipartisan effort with my colleagues in the Orange County Congressional delegation pushing for the next COVID relief bill to include direct funding for local governments in our region. That relief would save jobs and help our cities keep essential services running for you.

Continuing the Fight for Covid-19 Relief
Summary: Mike continues to push for real Covid-19 relief --including resources for vaccine distribution and direct funding for local governments.
Mike has also cosponsored the American Family Act, which would cut child poverty nearly in half by improving the Child Tax Credit, and the RESTAURANTS Act, which would establish a $120 billion restaurant stabilization grant program to help struggling independent restaurants

Mike’s Bill Strengthening Veterans’ Services Becomes Law
Summary: Last month, Mike’s legislation to help veterans get through this pandemic and ensure homeless vets and their families receive additional resources was signed into law. Mike was also elected to be Vice Chair of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
