Friends,
If you’ve been following 350 Fairfax for the last year, you know that Fairfax County is developing its first-ever Community-wide Energy and Climate Action Plan (CECAP).
As a little background, the county convened a CECAP Task Force—comprising Fairfax residents, local businesses, associations, and environmental groups—to develop a Climate Action Plan for the county as a whole in January 2020. I’m representing 350 Fairfax on the Task Force, and late last year, we set a goal of net zero emissions, across all sectors of the economy, by 2050.
After we set our big goal, we broke into two working groups to develop actionable strategies to reduce greenhouse gas pollution from the two biggest sources of emissions in Fairfax County: energy and transportation.
Now we need your input!
This morning Fairfax County released 3 public surveys on the CECAP process. Take the surveys (in English, Spanish, Korean, or Vietnamese) here.
These surveys cover actionable steps Fairfax County residents and business owners could take to reduce emissions in the energy, transportation, development, and waste sectors. The third survey provides an opportunity for you to give open-ended feedback on the CECAP process and the plan itself.
My ask today is simple: Complete all three surveys and then ask five friends to complete the surveys by March 14.
We need everyone to participate in this process to ensure that it is equitable. We need everyone to participate to ensure that the plan the Task Force ultimately approves reflects the diverse needs and resources of residents across Fairfax County.
You have a voice in this process, and your voice is essential. Take the surveys today.
Yours in action,
Julie Kimmel
Co-chair, 350 Fairfax
