My name is Elaine Luria — proud representative of Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. I’ve been serving in Congress since 2018 when I flipped the seat from red to blue. 

Before that, I served in uniform for 20 years and finished my career in the Navy at the rank of Commander. For me, taking care of American service members, veterans, and their families is personal -- and the right thing to do. This work begins with access to affordable health care that’s within reach whether they live in rural America or an urban center.

As a Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, Vice-Chair of the House Armed Services Committee, and Chair of the Disability and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, I’m glad that Secretary Denis McDonough has been confirmed to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs. He brings extensive experience to the VA, having previously served as President Barack Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser and Chief of Staff.
