IMPORTANT WINTER WEATHER SURVEY
Dear Friends,
This week we experienced an unprecedented winter storm that left many of us without power, heat, water, and food. Rest assured that I am working with all stakeholders to get answers and help our communities recover as quickly as possible. Currently, there is a statewide effort to assess the damages from this disaster. By sharing this information, officials at the local, state, and federal levels will have a better understanding of the destruction that occurred and the repairs needed.
If your home or business was affected by the freeze (i.e. no power, no running water, no natural gas, frozen or damaged water pipes, etc.), please visit the state’s website here. Completing these forms will enable you and your communities to access key federal relief.

On February 16, 2021, I, along with members of the Texas Democratic Delegation, sent a letter to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and the Public Utility Commission of Texas to demand immediate answers, accountability, and the restoration of power. What happened this past week was completely unacceptable and I fully support all state and federal investigations into ERCOT and the power outages that left millions of Texans to freeze. If you would like to read the full letter, it can be found here.
My colleagues and I also sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) urging them to quickly approve Governor Abbott’s request for a major disaster declaration for communities affected by the extreme winter weather. This letter can be found here.
