Dear AMP Community,

February greetings from the depths of Michigan Winter.  We are summoning warmth and protection for people impacted by recent climate chaos all across the South and Midwest, especially those Black and Brown communities who are being disproportionately impacted as a result of environmental racism.

February is a month of celebrating Black histories and futures such as Black Bottom Archives, Detroit Narrative Agency’s Radical Remedy’s Exhibition, and Intelligent Mischief’s re-imagining governance cipher.

It’s a month of welcoming the new Lunar year, and all the potential for healing and transformation that the year of the Metal Ox promises.  It is a month of love, especially that kind of revolutionary love that emboldens us to dream and build the worlds we need.

Even in these frozen times, we are channeling light deep into our roots. We are feeding energy towards futures where all Black lives matter all year long, where Asian American elders are safe and respected, where climate justice is real.

At AMP, we are supporting the brilliant media-based organizers who are creating these futures. As we settle into 2021, our work continues to grow and deepen. We’ve added quite a few amazing people to our team in recent months, and we’re not done!

Won’t you join us?  Now hiring: Digital Communications Specialist & Artist for AMC 2022. Together we can build love, community, and connection across movements rooted in liberation.

With love,
AMP

A filibuster is a loophole that allows a small group of representatives to block congress from bringing an issue to a vote. Time and again, it diminishes the political power of voters of color and the lawmakers who represent them. Trump used the filibuster to place an ultra-conservative judge on the supreme court in 2016 and now we are anticipating Republicans will use it to fuel voter suppression.

Abolish the Filibuster!

Alexis Pauline Gumbs says if we want to save the whales, we must End Capitalism

"We are living in a world off course. And the pressure in your lungs is urgency. We have to learn the language of this air. We are sick of these tired cycles of economic vulnerability, resource grabs, and waste and harm spiraling down. We are ready to breathe differently. And evolve." -- Alexis Pauline Gumbs
