PRESS RELEASE

** Politics of Care Session 3 at the Ubuntu Symposium
------------------------------------------------------------

** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
------------------------------------------------------------

The Politics of Care seminar series continues on Thursday 25 February as part of the MenEngage Global Ubuntu Symposium (register here ([link removed] ) ).

The seminar series unpacks four phases of an ethic of care, and specifically how men can contribute to the cultivation of a feminist ethic of care.

The first session ([link removed]) addressed men ‘caring about’ and how men’s ignorance of the value of care may be overcome.

The second session ([link removed]) engaged with men ‘taking care’ of others, and focused on the problematic nature of the ‘father as financial provider only’ stereotype.

Join us for the third session (register here ([link removed]) ) where we will reflect on the third phase of ‘men giving care’ This session focuses on practical care work, the unequal share of care work between women and men, and some perspectives from research including the State of the World’s Fathers report. The discussion will include a reflection on the recently launched Oxfam SA #care4carers campaign.

As before, the session will include a discussion on the structural implications of men’s contribution to an ethic of care.

We are joined again by panelists Gary Barker of Promundo, Tomas Agnemo of Plan Sweden, Rukia Cornelius from Oxfam SA, and Asanda Ngoasheng, political analyst, associated with Oxfam SA. The session will be hosted by Wessel van den Berg from Sonke Gender Justice and the MenCare Global Fatherhood campaign.

The session is hosted by the MenCare Global Fatherhood campaign ([link removed]) .
