Dear friends –

We hope this email finds you well. We are in the third week of Black History Month, and so much has been happening in our communities. Rates of gun violence have continued to increase in response to our communities being strained for resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further, communities in Texas are facing unprecedented devastation in the aftermath of deadly winter storms. For more information on how to support from afar, check out this helpful guide [[link removed]] from our friends at March for Our Lives Texas.

In the face of these challenges, we are committed to elevating the work of leaders of color on the ground.

We are hosting our February call next Tuesday, February 23rd at 3PM EST / 2PM CST [[link removed]] , and we will be joined by Shantay Jackson, the Director of the Baltimore Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, Oresa Napper-Williams, Founder of Not Another Child and member of the CJAF Speaker’s Bureau, and Kheperah Kearse Director of Wellness at Life Camp, Inc. Our guest speakers will talk about Black leadership in the fight to end gun violence, and elevating healing in our communities.

We hope you can join us to hear from our guest speakers and from CJAF staff about our latest policy and advocacy campaigns and organizing efforts to help end gun violence.

Please RSVP here [[link removed]] , and share this invite across your networks!

In solidarity,

Thia’a Rahman
