Antifa, a contraction of “anti-fascist,” is not new. The group has its roots in 1930s Germany, when it opposed Nazism as an arm of the Communist Party. The group fell dormant after World War II, but in recent years and especially since Hillary Clinton suffered her historic loss to President Donald Trump in 2016, it has re-emerged in the form of black-clad mobs who destroy property, make threats, disrupt daily life for thousands and even put people with whom they disagree in the hospital.

They ran wild, smashed windows and burned a car in Washington D.C. on President Trump’s inauguration day. They have blocked commuters on highways in major American cities. They vandalized, trashed and browbeat a California university into canceling a prominent conservative’s lecture.
