Twenty years ago, a baby girl was born in a small Argentinian community. Three days later, she passed away. The cause of her death: poisoning by pesticides. The community is surrounded by soy fields drenched in Monsanto’s glyphosate.

The baby’s mother, Sofía, decided to fight for justice and take on one of the biggest companies in the world: Monsanto, sparking a decades-long battle to ban glyphosate.

She knew her baby would not be the first or last to fall victim to Monsanto’s pesticides. A study later revealed 80% of children in the community had agrochemicals present in their bodies.

Sofía rallied other local mothers with similar tragedies, and now they have a historic opportunity to take their case to court -- but they need your help, John. Pesticide poisoning is a huge problem in South America. A recent study found that thousands of babies died from pesticide poisoning in Brazil, after glyphosate in surrounding soy fields leaked into the local water supply.

The facts are clear, but these mothers have their work cut out for them. Monsanto won’t give up easily and will do anything they can to make sure it can still line its coffers with profits from glyphosate.

But this is why I feel hopeful for Sofía’s fight: Incredible members like you have proven countless times that people can win over corporate profit.
