Millions of Texans have spent days without power in freezing temperatures. But, Texas GOP Governor Greg Abott had nothing better to do than jump on Fox News to blame renewable energy sources and claim that “the Green New Deal would be a deadly deal for the United States of America.”

But it's clear Greg Abbott, an avid climate change-denier, doesn't know what he's talking about.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fired back, saying, “The infrastructure failures in Texas are quite literally what happens when you *don't* pursue a Green New Deal.”

With a Democratic House, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House, and Kamala Harris as the tie breaking vote in the Senate, we can FINALLY pass the Green New Deal before it's too late to protect our planet from the worst impacts of climate change. We must act immediately, otherwise the effects of the warming planet will make life as we know it impossible for our children and grandchildren.

But Mitch McConnell calls the Green New Deal “nonsense,” and even with Democrats in control of the Senate, McConnell can filibuster the Green New Deal and prevent it from passing.

Kamala Harris has previously said she is “prepared to get rid of the filibuster to pass a Green New Deal.” It's past time we act on that promise.

We must act now. The climate crisis is already here. If we fail to take bold action on climate change, if we continue to appease climate change skeptics like Abbott to keep Republicans happy, then we won't have a country left to govern. So please, tell us where you stand now:
