Hi there,
Seven Republican senators did the bare minimum of voting to convict Donald Trump of incitement of insurrection last Sunday. 43 Republican senators didn't even do that.
Now, the seven who stood up to Trump are facing harsh rebukes from their local GOP leaders. Six of those seven senators have faced formal repercussions or censures from Republicans in their home states.
Nebraska's Ben Sasse, one of those senators, told the Nebraska GOP they were welcome to censure him -- "but let's be clear about why this is happening," he added. "It's because I still believe, as you used to, that politics isn't about the weird worship of one dude."
Unfortunately, most of the GOP still hasn't gotten the message. Can you help us clear up the narrative?
Is the GOP still obsessed with worshipping Trump?
