According to The Hill, Joe Biden is “personally committed” to taking action on gun violence and reinstating talks on stricter gun laws and universal background checks.
As a gun law reform advocate, Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon has highlighted the stakes: “Gun violence has become the second leading cause of death for children in the US -- a public health crisis. We cannot afford any more excuses or delays. We need action. Our families, our children, and our country depends on it.”
But we know Biden will face a number of challenges. Pro-Trump riots and GOP anti-regulation propaganda have led to a sharp rise in gun sales across the country -- and a recent Gallup poll found that support for stricter gun laws is at its lowest level since 2016.
