A federal court judge in Texas is set to determine the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and “many anticipate that DACA will be ruled unlawful, given the Trump administration's handling of the case and the judge's track record on immigration,” according to Politico.
President Joe Biden has signed an executive order to halt construction on Donald Trump's border wall. Biden has stopped some deportations and ended Trump's policy that kept asylum seekers attempting to cross at our southern border stuck in Mexico while awaiting hearings. And there is a sweeping immigration reform bill going through the House that would pave a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented Americans.
But the GOP is using every single tool they have at their disposal to stop immigrants from pursuing their American dreams -- including the court system.
We can't let that happen. We need to defend DACA at every juncture if we're ever going to end Trump's devastating deportation regime, and right now, we're facing one of the biggest fights in the struggle for immigrant rights.
